I think you mentioned you might do a dynasty pitcher column which would be awesome. How do you think you would rank the following guys for dynasty with the goal of finding a future SP1 or SP2 type: Ryan Sloan, Brody Hopkins, Troy Melton, Carlos Lagrange, and JR Ritchie. I’ve got all 5 but will need to drop one or two at some point this year.
Hello Chris! Yeah the dynasty SP ranks seems to be something that folks are interested in, and a solid value add to the coverage. I am pretty much spending my time fully focused on the bigs right now, with most of my dynasty drafts/FYPDs in the rear view, but I stay very updated on the lower levels. Seaming in the right time for a full dynasty piece is on the horizon, and I do keep lists for my leagues. I really lean upside there until we can see the command and arsenal on full ‘pro’ display (meaning A ball, etc).
As to your question, those are names that litter many of my various teams, esp Sloan—he might be my highest rostered pitcher period (for dynasty). He’d be #1 for me, followed by Hopkins and Lagrange. Ritchie wouldn’t be all that far behind (there is a gap), but has more value for proximity/depth of offerings than the raw stuff of those guys. I like Melton a lot, he’s one to exercise patience with, his ceiling could be pretty surprising. This year is pretty TBD, at the moment, but that can change on a dime yet. He’s a no doubt starter for me, even if he has to float roles for a chunk of this year. You are positioned well with those arms, either to deal for coverage in other areas, or riding it out and enjoying the helium that will most likely come. Let’s assess again in mid May!
Awesome, thanks Steven! I appreciate the thoughtful response. I know you like Ritchie so it’s good to see where you think he fits among those others. I’ll try to hold on tight to these guys and see how things look in a few months.
